The first key to identifying cat training problems is to find out the cause. You have to ask yourself how did it start before you can be able to resolve them. Cats are extremely sensitive, so you have to figure out what exactly they are having problems with. Sometimes they have a hard time adjusting to new experiences so you have to give them time and be very patient.

The second key is to figure out exactly how healthy is your cat. A lot of training problems could be related to health issues. It is important to schedule regular checkups with your local veterinarian. This helps you to know if your cats behavioral problems are related to health. Since animals can't talk, they can't tell you what is really going on with them or how they feel therefore it is very important to continually assess your cat for mood changes which could actually be health related.

The third key is to try to figure out what the surrounding circumstances where behind your cat's change in behavior. You must think back to what might have happened to cause such a dramatic change. Since cats are such delicate creatures, such things as having new people around it or being in a different environment can have a great impact on a cat's behavior. Know your cat so you can be able to identify even the subtle changes.

The fourth key is being able to detect if there is a quarrel between your cat and other animals. Just like humans, animals have disagreements that might affect their moods. If you happen to have other pets living with you along with your cat, there is bound to be differences in opinions every once in a while so you have to be aware of this and try as much as you can to give each one its special attention so that there wouldn't be too much jealousy or rivalry between your pets.

Some cats can be very clingy and needy, and sometimes at the worst times and in the worst places. Cats that think they rule the roost will bite, scratch, pinch food, and possibly even stop using their litter tray. In a situation like that, you need to establish what the basic rules are.

Some cats find training very easy, whereas others will need more time to adjust. However, with a bit of patience you will be able to get your can to become better behaved.

The sooner you start your cat training the better. It doesn't matter whether it's an old cat or a new kitten, from the first day you get them you need to set the rules. Make sure you stick to your rules, and never deviate, so that the cat always knows what's going on and doesn't get confused. Also, don't shout at the cat every day. If you shout all the time, the cat will just get used to this and start to ignore it.

Cats love receiving treats and rewards, so incorporate this into your training regime. However, you must make sure the cat receives the treat immediately after the good behavior; otherwise it won't link the two. If done correctly, this kind of positive training can be extremely effective.

However, whatever route you take to train your cat, remember that all cats are different. Not all cats will adapt quickly to being trained. Patience and perseverance is the key.

How to Go About Toilet Training a Cat

If you are a fan of pets, and especially cats, then you have a task of toilet training them. You may be wondering how possible this is, but believe you me, there are even books that have been written on this topic. Toilet training for your cat is necessary nowadays because unlike in the past where people lived in homes with gardens, today, many are living in apartments where there are no gardens or backyards.

Cats would go into the garden, do their potty and cover it up with soil, but now this is not common due to the absence of the gardens. This is where toilet training for a cat comes in. It is not an easy affair, but its is worth the effort. It begins by having some basic skills on how to handle the pet. You need to make a litter box for the pet, and teach the it to use it.

It will require you to be a bit patient with the animal because it is not a guarantee that it will learn instantly. In the beginning, place the box where the pet likes to stay at the most, and gradually with time, move it to the washroom area. Remember that you have to keep emptying the litter box, otherwise the bad smell will suffocate the whole house.

Once the cat is used to the box, it will learn to look for it to ease itself. As you move the box to the bathroom area, trim the edges and start placing it on the seat. Gradually, cut a hole in the center of the box and let the pet get used to this too. Finally, remove the brims of the box completely and leave the flat cardboard on the seat. You will be amazed.
